Reprise #1 [Voice > Video] Encore!
The sun's barely rising when he's ushered quite quickly out into the snow-layered town, no good-bye and a newly-acquired Chatot flying behind him. He had originally thought it would be positive to get going quickly, to head and find his family and friends and home... and then he felt the freezing early-morning cold. Oh holy chicken breast, the cold. Pumpkins are warm-season vegetables; apparently his body temperature is reflecting that, which is why he takes a moment to stand there shivering, his lack of a coat and gloves seriously being problematic right now.
They travel a small while to a tiny eating establishment that just seemed to be opening for the day.
[The feed switches on as voice at first, a bird's whistle filling the speakers with its simple repeat tune; it's amateur, but it's catchy.]
Hoo~... he~re we go!
[The still-partially shivering voice will be familiar to some, but the face that just clicked onto the feed's screen'll jog your mind if you can't quite place it. His inquisitive face breaks into a big, toothy grin as he realizes that- yes- it' broadcasting! Which means, people, and more importantly his family are on the other end.]
Wou~ld've said I was back earlier, but our mom sent me away pretty quick this time. o~hoo, think she remembers me?
[A single eyebrow raises with that playful little smirk that always comes out in situations like these.
The fact he turned up at the door of her house to collect his ill-as-fuck wife, who had considered burying this 'Mom' alive aswell... Well, I think there are reasons why she's going to want to get rid of him.]
'Didn't mean to leave in the first place, would've stayed in an instant if I could've. Still, that makes three times from the Otherworld, hm? Maybe it'll bring back some'a the others? It'd make my day to see my little Coraline again.
I'll try'n be home as so~on as I can, kiddos. 'Gonna need to make my way to the next town soon, too! I'm freezin' like a pumpkin out there.
[Hardy-har, Other Father.
As he goes to shut off the feed, he gives a wave to the screen and begins to whistle a much more complex tune that fits perfectly in with the Chatot's, though it does seem to be vibrating a bit. 8| stupid cold.]

Two points to me, one to my bea~utiful wife.
The name 'Jade' wouldn't happen to mean anythin' to you, would it? 'Pretty little girl, looks a bit like you.
[Sitting up a little straighter, proud of that compliment.]
Oh, yes! She's my grandma! Er, sort of. It's pretty complicated, but I could elaborate as best as I can?
[He's still not sure how he feels about it, but a happy face is a better face.
He has to chuckle at that.]
You're her Poppop? [He's already had the shock once today, so he sort of gets the idea of what might be coming up.]
[He grins.]
Yeah, I'm her grandpa in her perspective! Though, I guess I'm also biologically her and John's father? It's weird and I don't have the specifics like John does.
Ah, but I'm being rude! I'm Jake English, nice to meet you!
... John's dad, hm? [... Other Father's trying to figure whether him being around will cause trouble or not. I mean, his 'dad' is also a kid himself, so maybe?] Looks like we got somethin' in common, Jake.
Guess I'm your Other Father. ['Guess' because does he father fathers or? wow confusion. You're still a kid though, so he's choosing 'yes' on this one.]
[This is exciting news omg!]
I don't know how it works, honestly. I mean, I'm only 16! So it's weird calling him my son when he's, well, my age?
[Head tilt.]
Why "other?" Not that I mind it, but I'm curious.
I could always give you some advice, if you'd like? It's in my job.
Every kid has a set of Other Parents- [and then he remembers details] Even more if they don't have parents.
That'd be great! But I'm not sure about John's feelings on the matter, so perhaps I should hold off?
[He's quiet for a moment.]
Well, I don't think I've got parents, so...well, um, I don't know how to be a son, really.
I've been looking out for John for over a year now, kiddo; if you ever do decide you want help, I'm su~re I can try.
[He has to chuckle at that.] 'Key's to be yourself, Jake.
Thanks! I'm sure I'll need it.
[small sigh] But that's been getting me into trouble recently.
Jane I have had the pleasure to finally meet. You all share eachother's looks.
Hm? [Care to talk about it? Lesson 1: Dads have to be good at listening.]
[He grins.] We are pretty similar, huh?
Hold on a tick. [Making this thing private and making sure none of his besties are around. Jake's kind of embarrassed and shy, but family's all about trust, right? So dads work the same way.]
Erm, well, I'm not the sharpest tack. Kinda slow on the uptake really, and that's landed me in a spot of trouble. Um, can I count on you to not tell Jane and Dirk about this conversation?
[He listens in, his smile growing into an understanding one as he questions him.]
How to be a dad one-oh-one: Always keep a secret safe.
[The smile's a yes.]
[Oh, the relief he's feeling right now!]
Well, they both have...feelings...for me, and I didn't realize Jane even felt that way about me because when I last talked to her at home, she told me she only had platonic feelings. And recent events have told me otherwise and now I'm afraid of really hurting them, and I have no clue what to do. I mean, I want to follow Aradia's advice, which is to choose, but I feel like such a chicken about it!
[Jake's been putting it off, too.]
Usually he would class this as the Other Mother's area, but then he looks at his own relationship in the past and has to reconsider. He can do this.]
Now that is quite the predicament.
Have you thought about sittin'em down one at a time and explaining the situation? Aradia's right; you can't keep 'em running around forever, or you might lose both of them as friends, Jake. But it's a~okay to be scared; it's a scary situation.
I was thinking both at the same time when Jane got back, but maybe one at a time would be better? I mean, I like them both in that kinda way, and...
[Frustrated sigh.]
It's a confounding complicated situation! [Feels are hard]
If you think they'll understand better together, then follow your gut. [He pats his own stomach, but surprises himself when he gets a rumble in return, laughing at the unexpected sound.] Mi~ne's never treated me wrong.
[Other Father, you're thinking about your stomach, not gut!]
[Pause. And now Jake's laughing a little bit. Totally cheered up, now.]
It sounds like yours is telling you to get some food right now, huh?
Mine's been eating since it got here. Still, can't say no to more.
[Welcome to the land of Other Fathers and Eating Everything.]
